I will be continuously adding easy DIY home-made honey based skin remedies but for a simple quick treatment that works amazingly on an unwanted, unruly breakout……
Try this … A simple marriage of ‘Sweet and Sour’.
What you will need:
- Organic raw honey
- 1 Organic lemon
- A small bowl
- Mixing spoon (I use a wooden coffee stirring stick)
You can use this simple concoction as a facial rinse or a face mask . For optimal benefits , prep your skin with a brief cleanse and face steam for 10 minutes. Have your mixture prepared and ready to use before your steam. Always use caution when steaming at home. Always use distilled water, which eliminates the impurities rising with steam that do absorb into and affect your skin . I use a distilled alkaline water that I purchase from my local natural food store. Bring water to a boil and carefully remove pot to set it on a towel or protective surface . Make sure to keep face at least two feet above scolding pot and water . Exposing skin too close to water and steam to that degree can result in first and/or second degree burns , and ultimately damage the skin. However done safely and properly, steaming moistens the skin , softens and lifts trapped dirt and bacteria and preps your skin and pores to reap the benefits of this treatment .
AS A RINSE:
Mix two tablespoons of raw honey with a whole organic lemon squeezed. This consistency will be thinner and is more potent with it’s rich citrus acidic enzymes which break down the build up of trapped bacteria and naturally exfoliates dead skin cells. Because this is stronger it can be a bit irritating on sensitive skin with it’s proportions , therefore should only be used as a rinse to thoroughly cleanse and wash away bacteria and dead skin cells. Simply emulsify in your hands gently apply across your face in circular cleansing motions, avoiding the eye area . Rinse thoroughly with water.
AS A MASK:
Mix 4 tablespoons of raw honey with a half squeezed organic lemon . This should result in a far thicker consistency . Apply over entire face in a generous amount avoiding the eye area . Depending on your skin type, leave on for 15-30 minutes. For extra sensitive skin, leave on for 10-15 minutes. For problematic oily skin leave on for 30 minutes. Relax and let it do it’s thing. Remove gently with a warm dampened all-natural cloth then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
